Beth's feet at the Live Lounge. Nice.
I've got this thing with records now where I can only pay them full attention a few months before or after release. It is literally unbearable for me to listen to stuff in the midst of a hype storm, I have to come to it in my own time. This has happened most recently with Kanye’s ‘808s & Heartbreak’, I’ve suddenly become totally obsessed with the whole thing aeons after everyone was talking about it. Classic me.
♫ Gossip - Love Lockdown (MP3)
Now this ties in nicely with a track I wanted to share with you - ‘Love Lockdown’ covered by another one of my favourite acts Gossip. I’m properly sick and tired of the bad reviews Music For Men has been getting in the mainstream press and I need to vent. Critics yapping on about one hit wonders and Ditto’s weight incessantly is seriously douchey and dull, and it’s criminal how little the actual songs are mentioned. The album shows awesome musical development for the band, as they successfully embrace NYC disco and synths, simultaneously sounding ferocious and sweetly smooth at the same time, not to mention the hugely pioneering political implications of a band who, as they did just yesterday, openly talk about bullying and being physically different and gay on primetime Radio 1. It’s seriously inspirational. Write about that why don't you...
