GOD! I can't tell you how much I’m loving revisiting this track at the moment. I have such a crush on 60s (and early 70s) soul songs that pit powerfully upbeat backing tracks against crushingly dark lyrics.

This one is definitely in the top five of that ilk - 60s soul crush! Who can fail to be amazed by the spooky chants of the opening verse - and if you wait, which you should and WILL, you'll hear a thing of such beauty it takes my breath away every single time. Check out around 2 minutes, 46 seconds when it brings the chorus back - the amazing horror movie style building strings!

If you took just that element out, and you heard it when you were alone, in the dark, ANYWHERE, you wouldn't be able to help but do that classic horror face and maybe a slow turn to camera followed by extreme close-up on the eyes accompanied by screams.

Is it too much of a stretch to suggest this song is about making a deal with the devil? I think so but I just wanted to put it out there - LOLZ! ENJOY!
