Boyz VS Girlz vocals! I’m going to try keeping my reviews short and SWEET rather than crazy person’s rants! Haha

♫ Dead Man’s Bones – My Body’s A Zombie For You (MP3)

This song is like a doo-wop arcade fire with empowering child chorus backing vocals! The end where they’re spelling out ‘Z-O-M-B-I-E, zombie!‘ is fun! You can even hear the teacher telling them what to do.

♫ The Rural Alberta Advantage – Don’t Haunt This Place (MP3)

In a similar comparative vein, his vocal has the same beautiful defeated quality as Casiotone for the Painfully Alone but the track is distinctly acoustic and twee. Twinned with kinetic rhythms and sweet female backing it keeps the track upbeat and optimistic – SIGH!

YES TO THIS TRACK! Again with the powerful beats and tweeny acoustic guitars but this time with urgent punk-style vocals. Total summer feel good track!

♫ Fan Death – Jealously (Demo) (MP3)

God – when are we going to hear more from these ladies! Despite this being a bit rough around the edges (being a demo n’all) this still delivers a big sound in the shape of their trademark orchestral sweeps, electronics and atonal vocals, seemingly devoid of emotion. Very beautiful indeed!

♫ JJ – Ecstasy (MP3)

Sounds like waking up in a forest just as the sun’s rising. This dreamily uplifting electro-pop has a darkside that makes me almost nervously enjoy this track!

♫ Vibes – Night Court (MP3)

To begin with, this sounds like some kind of badly recorded funk version of White stripes’ Seven nation army but as soon as the vocals come in it sounds like YYYs  Miles away. A veritable free form psychedelic nightmare.
